Brick Road to Africa

This is Bess. She is a major quilt tester. This one met her approval. fits the bed but is now too big for my machine set-up. I did meet a long arm quilter and may have to check her out with this quilt.
This is what I found in that box dated June 2002. 100+ brick road blocks all done, lots of strip sets all sewn together, a stack of 6 1/2" strips, a stack of 3 1/2" strips and at least 50 2 1/2" strips of all these wild animal prints. Talk about making me excited!! It is like finding money in a coat pocket. It is already yours but you had forgotten it!

The tiger panels were a weird size...14 3/4" square. SO I added a trim to them and made them 18" square. They played much more nicely with the 9" brick road blocks.
Just slapped them on the design wall to get a feel of the quilt. Hubby helps so much. He has an artist's eye and always comes to my rescue. I was going to just add the tiger panels to the corners. He said they would be better in the center. And I agreed.
I was at the end of day one working on this. I was also cooking a chicken to make homemade chicken and noodles. The food was done before the sewing. I finished the quilt the next morning.

DD birthday quilt is done

I put in one of my favorite DVD's "Out of Africa" and the movie is 2 hrs and 41 minutes long. From beginning to end that is how long it took to quilt this. I just did an all over meandering of "e's" and "l"s". It looks great. I use the float method of loading the machine. It is so fast and easy this way. Long ago I used to load all three rollers. Way too much work!

The binding is now on and I need to add the label. Her BD is the 28th of this month so I am totally on track!

Cats and Quilts

This is newest cat. She is just a little over a year old and is not done growing into her huge paws! So, she needs lots of rest. Growing is hard work.

This is my biggest cat Baby. She was bottle fed. I rescued her from a feral cat pack. Mom cat was moving the kittens and my neighbor called and I ended up with Baby. I am very close with her. But she still wants to drink from a bottle. She equates food with love. My fault she is sooooo fat! And she loves fabric!

Orange Crush step #4

I totally love how the pinks and browns play off each other. See the red ones on the right? I like them too. They will be in the scrappy version of OC mystery.

Orange Crush step #4

I have all 30 blocks made today for my scrappy version of the Orange Crush mystery quilt. Only 21 blocks shown on design wall. I had to take them down as I plan on turning the fan on later. I still have not quilted DD birthday quilt. That is the quilt rolled up above the blocks.

6 1/2" 9-patch swap

Today I cut/washed and pressed 36 0ne yard cuts from my stash.
These will be cut into the 2 1/2" strips for the next strip swap.

And I will use some to make my scrappy (2 fabric) 6 1/2" nine patches.

The rest will be processed into my fabric bins that I totally love thanks to the wonderful Bonnie Hunter stash system.
