My bread recipe for a bread machine

It always seems to come out a little lopsided. I even reach and and rearrange the dough and try to make cuts in the top after the 3rd rise.

here is the recipe I use:

1 1/2 c. + 2 tbl. room temp milk
2 tbl. butter cut into pieces
these two items go in the pan first
then I add:
 3 cups bread flour
1 cup wheat flour
3 tbl. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. fast rise yeast (I keep it away from the salt)
1 tbl. vital wheat gluten
1 tbl. milled flax seed

This makes a 2 pound loaf of bread.

It may be that your oven is a little off level. The bread still looks delicious.

I don't have a bread machine, but I went and got a couple loaves rising after seeing your picture...good idea! I love homemade bread.~

Thank you for sharing your recipe Subee! I hope to try it very soon. Also, your Easy Street looks great, good for you for keeping at it! I have made enough blocks/triangles to put together a kiddie-sized quilt, but need to assemble them. I only did half the units throughout the mystery, so probably have enough to do two kiddie quilts. Or who knows what I will decide before they actually get sewn together! Thanks for all you do--Gina in Missouri

Oh, that looks deeelicious!
We just got a bread machine for Xmas so I will try your recipe first.
Question: Why do you add more gluten? What does that do? Is for nutrition or just for the texture?
